The shared folders feature makes sharing, organizing, centralizing and collaborating on Flourish projects streamlined and easy. You can use shared folders to easily group and share all visualizations and stories of a project you are collaborating on, to establish templates and starting points that your team will be using, or to organize all charts related to a past project.
NOTE: Premium templates are only accessible to customers on our Enterprise and Publisher plans. To learn more about our different plans, get in touch with our Sales team.
To get started with shared folders:
- 1
-
Project homepage
On the left side of your project homepage, the folders sidebar is split into two: the top section is for your private folders, and the bottom one which features the name of your organization, lists shared folders within your company.
- 2
-
Creating a new folder
The section within you create a folder defines its shareable status. Choose “Add new folder” at the top, private projects section, or “Add new shared folder” at the bottom, company-wide shared folders section and type in a name. You can also edit the name later in the folder’s crumb trail.
TIP: When a project is inside a folder, a link to the folder will be displayed beneath the project title in the editor.

-
Unpublishing a folder
If you want to unshare a folder, head to its' crumb trail, click on the little arrow and opt for Unshare folder.
You can also drag and drop the folder through the sidebar. If you move a shared folder into your private projects, the folder will become private.
Warning: Your teammates can access your projects in the usual ways – for example when you share the editor URL of a visualization - even if the projects are in a private folder. You can learn more about Flourish access permissions here.

Using a shared folder as a repository of starting points
Are there visualization types that members of your organization use often? Another handy use of the shared folders is to create one that contains base visualizations that work as starting points, that your teammates can copy and work with. Also, clicking on a folder changes the page URL, which means you can bookmark specific folders in your browser for quick access.
