Satellite raster tiles provide realistic, detailed imagery of the Earth's surface to your Flourish maps, offering a wealth of information. This can be particularly useful for maps where understanding the physical features of a location is important, such as in environmental studies, urban planning, real estate, or investigative journalism.
Depending on the source of the satellite imagery, you may be able to customize the level of detail, the area covered, and other aspects of the raster tiles to suit your specific needs.
In Flourish, you can use satellite map tiles in 3D maps and Marker maps templates. To use satellite tiles in your maps, follow the steps below:

Create a New Visualization using either the 3D map or the Marker map starting points.

Under the Base map setting, click on Raster button. This changes the Map type setting from Vector to Raster.

Changing the Map type from Vector to Raster changes the interface to look like the one below.

- By default, Raster tile is set to use Flourish's raster tiles.

To change to a satellite base map, we can use the following map tiles providers.
NOTE: Some map tile providers may require you to have an API Key to access their tiles.

- Tile URL, Tile scheme, Min. tile zoom, Max. tile zoom, and Tile size using any of the set of values in the table above.
