You can use the second datasheet in both the Bar chart race and Line chart race to create captions that will appear in front of your racing series' at specified times. Here's how.
- 1
-
Head to the Data tab > Captions. In the Time to show/Stage to show (From) and Time to hide/Stage to hide (To) columns, add the years or stages you would like a caption to appear over. Then, add your caption text and enter the column letter to the Text column binding.
NOTE: The years/stages in your Captions sheet must match the column headers in the main data sheet.

-
Please note that in the Bar chart race, the Time to show and Time to hide columns only support text and date/time formats.
The Line chart race, on the other hand, only supports text data format.
If your columns have been interpreted as a different data format than supported, you can change this manually. Read more about automated column selection in this help doc.

Only one caption can be displayed at once, so make sure your indicated timeframes don’t overlap. If they do, only the last caption added to the spreadsheet will be displayed.

-
You can add images to your captions by adding an image URL in the Image column or uploading an image by right-clicking on the cell and selecting Upload file.

You can also add custom styling to your captions.
